[last revised 12/27/02] [posted January, 2003] Well, as it's been almost four years (!!) since I last posted an update to the Oysterband (sic) Discography that I've been tending to, I guess it's high time to make the Great Leap Forward. So here it is - Version 1.7 .... Notable additions include: details of HERE I STAND and associated German/ UK CD-singles; details of Spanish vinyl pressings of STEP OUTSIDE, LITTLE ROCK TO LEIPZIG, RIDE, DESERTERS; details of several previously uncatalogued 7" vinyl, CD-singles, and video appearances; numerous additional "Guest Mu- sician" and "V/A" appearances; details of the band's newest full length re- lease = RISE ABOVE; plus the usual minor cosmetic updates and/or corrections; I hope everyone enjoys it. Someday I may actually get 'round to finishing a snazzy web version with scanned cover art, lyrics, details of song variants, etc., but I wouldn't hold my breath :-) *********** To Readers of the Oyster Band Discussion List: At long last, after innumerable delays, false starts, and just plain laziness, I've finally completed the finishing touches on Version 1.0 [now Version 1.7] of the Fiddler's Dram / Oyster Ceilidh Band / Oyster Band / Oysterband discography. As you might expect, this was very much a team effort between several of us who "met" here on the O-List, and began com- piling titles, track lists, etc. of various Oyster Band (and associated bands) recordings in our own collections. Ken Josenhans and I first put together a rudimentary list of albums nearly a decade ago, and this initial effort was later supplemented by additional information provided by Candy Schwartz and numerous other O-Band fans. My thanks to them, and to every- one who took the time/effort to make constructive suggestions for improve- ment of earlier, non-posted versions. We certainly welcome your continuing input, thoughts and comments. I'd be happy to coordinate this for the time being; send whatever information you think might be useful/informative to me and I'll see that it gets in- cluded in upcoming revision(s). We've still been able to confirm only a handful of various "special projects" with which the band is rumoured to been been involved (e.g., alleged compositions for films - "Gone for a Soldier" and "The Golden Hour" - and selected BBC radio series), so album/ track titles for any of these projects and/or unconfirmed collaborations not otherwise described below is especially welcome .... ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- DISCOGRAPHY: Fiddler's Dram / Oyster Ceilidh Band / Oyster Band / Oysterband ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Discography (c) 2003 by James Love, Binghamton, New York, 13905 While information about particular releases is not copyright and may be used without permission, the compilation of said information in this discography in this particular format is copyright, and may NOT be published in any form whatsoever without the express written permission of the author. The following table summarizes the full-length albums released by The Blue Aeroplanes over the past decade, and includes some brief notation as to whether IK was a primary [IK: P] or supporting [IK: S] member of the band at the time of each album's release. Note that he also contributed to the vinyl EP (SIAMESE BOYFRIENDS) with fellow BA member Gerard Langley, and guested on Caroline Trettine's BE A DEVIL 7-track EP/CD; details of both of these EPs are summarized in the Guest Musicians section .... ============================================================================== (1984) BOP ART [IK: P] Party PART1 (LP) Regeneration RGNR 4001 (CD re-issue with bonus track) (1985) TOLERANCE [IK: S] Fire FIRELP3 (also on CD) (1987) SPITTING OUT MIRACLES [IK: 0] Fire FIRELP10 (also on CD) (1988) FRIENDLOVERPLANE [IK: P] Fire FIRELP15 (LP) Restless (USA) (72314-2) (LP) (17-track CD omits 6 tracks) (1990) SWAGGER [IK: S] Ensign CHEN13 (LP/CD) Ensign-Chrysalis (F2 21752) in the USA (1990) WORLD VIEW BLUE [IK: 0] Ensign-Chrysalis F2 21818 (CD) (8-track EP w/ live tracks, leftovers and covers) (1991) BEATSONGS [IK: S] Ensign CHEN21 (LP/CD) Ensign-Chrysalis (F2 21856) in the USA (1992) FRIENDLOVERPLANE 2 [IK: S] Ensign CHEN28 (LP/CD) (1994) LIFE MODEL [IK: P] Beggars Banquet BBQCD-143 (1995) ROUGH MUSIC [IK: S] Beggars Banquet 92516-2 ============================================================================== UNCONFIRMED: (1992) DESERTERS [Spanish pressing; parts P&C/CookVinyl (Sp) DRO 4D-0883 of _Granite Years_ sung in [12? vinyl LP; cover art ???] Spanish with C.
