About Mike Resnick

Mike Resnick is one of those writers of speculative fiction who should be a household word. He really should — he’s won five Hugos, been nominated twenty-nine times, has written everything from his own offbeat version of urban fantasy (Stalking the Unicorn and Stalking the Vampire), to science fiction stories “on safari” (Dreamwish Beasts and Snarks), even focusing on particular historical characters (The Other Teddy Roosevelts and Dragon America), to a story about the Maasai, who’ve moved to an artifical world (Kilimanjaro), to one of the very best space odysseys yours truly has ever read (Santiago, which for some strange reason we’ve never reviewed here. Have to do something about that).

You’ll notice that there’s a lot of alternate history/alternate universe going on here. Yeah, well, if it works, use it.

And so we’ve got two entries in a new series, “Weird West Tales,” in which Resnick does again what he does so well. So check out our reviews of The Buntline Special and The Doctor and the Kid for an American West that you may or may not believe.

But with Resnick, it seems anything’s possible.
