Samantha Gillogly

Samantha Gillogly, violinist/violist, has performed an extensive list of standard classical repertoire from Adams to Zelenka, as well as jazz, Celtic, Bluegrass, Gypsy and Scandinavian fiddle. She has appeared on NBC-TV's "Chronicle" news magazine; performed for President William and Mrs. Hillary Rodham Clinton; and concertized in numerous recitals, competitions, and chamber groups. At age 13, she was invited to perform as assistant principal second with members of the Boston Symphony, Pops and Ballet in the Martha's Vineyard Festival Orchestra. Presently she studies jazz, fiddle and improvisation at the New England Conservatory with jazz violin virtuoso David Eure, and is a private classical student of Malcolm Lowe, Concertmaster of the Boston Symphony. In her off time, she enjoys watercolor, calligraphy, reading, hiking, and dabbles in poetry under her Victorian alter ego. She is a published, award-winning writer in multiple formats and is a recipient of Berklee College of Music's merit North American World Scholarship where she will begin her Bachelor of Arts in Performance studies in fall 2007.
